Shocking news: Hollywood is politically biased, Paris Hilton is an ignorant whore

This is going to be filed under the “No Shit Sherlock,” category, but I think it’s still worth talking about this little story.  We (conservatives) have been saying it for years.  The best person to point out bias is always the guy that’s on the shit end of the stick.  That’s why liberals are so good at pointing out the bias in Fox News.

Well this guy, Ben Shapiro, scored some interviews with Hollywood executives in which he got them to verbally admit that they have a liberal agenda that they’re trying to push onto America.  Not only that, but one of the executives he interviewed admitted that politics are absolutely a barrier to entry into the industry.

Call me crazy or stupid, but somehow that seems completely counterproductive to what the Liberals claim their agenda is.  Of course, they think that their agenda is to make America “truly free.”  They want to make sure that even the most disenfranchised and vulnerable citizens have access to the same rights and privileges due to any other American citizen.

What they don’t realize is that their methodology is ridiculously flawed and completely undermines everything they’re trying to do.

As I have posited before, freedom to them means that everyone has to think like them.  So when you think about it, the American television audience has, for years, been bombarded by an agenda that is blatantly and unapologetically liberal.

Now I’m all about freedom of speech.  If I wasn’t then I’d be a Democrat.  But what they’re doing is completely contrary to that whole line of thought.  It would be one thing if they were liberal simply because it got the best ratings (which would be a scary thought for me), but the fact that they actually bar people from Hollywood who are “too conservative,” is what makes the whole damn thing an immoral sham.

Yes, I said it.  Immoral.  Not that the agenda itself is immoral, and not that even having an agenda is immoral.  Everyone in this country is entitled to a voice and the opportunity to spread his or her message.  To stifle the voice of your opposition, however, is wholly contrary to what we know to be American values.

Stifling opinions in the media?  That
sounds an awful lot like . . .
And it’s not just an “American,” value: I would argue that it’s a universal value that ideas should not be silenced simply because it’s detrimental to one’s particular agenda.  What does that say about the liberal agenda if they feel the need to quell any voice of opposition?  To me it says that they’re not secure in the veracity of their cause.

Sure, they might say they believe in it, but they’ve only got one of two options to pick from.  They either (A) Are afraid that they might be wrong and Americans won’t buy their bullshit, or (B) Think the American people are too stupid to choose their beliefs for themselves.  I’m pretty sure the opinion of Hollywood is scenario B.

I don’t expect hyper-partisan idiots to understand a concept as complex as “liberty.”  Contrary to popular belief, liberty does not mean you have to will someone to believe exactly as you do.  To love liberty you actually have to love diversity.  For us to be a nation of free individuals, we have to agree that idiots are allowed to be idiots.

That doesn’t mean we abandon them, or that it’s wrong to engage them in persuasive discourse, but it does mean that if they reject our opinions, even if they reject reality, we have to let them.  They’re allowed to believe whatever the hell it is they want to believe.  We can continue to engage them, but what we can’t do is cut off all other forms of opinion.

Liberals might think the world will be a better place when everyone finally “wakes up” and is somehow unable to think beyond the Liberal agenda, but I think that’s a scary world.  For now, I suppose we can all rest easy that Hollywood writers and execs have admitted, on camera, that they are lackeys for the liberal agenda.

1 point is awarded to Freedom of Thought.

The funniest part of the story was that these PC Hollywood types just assumed the interviewer was liberal because his name was Shapiro. That's Irony!

Yeah, he said that he also wore his Harvard ballcap, knowing that they would likely assume that he's liberal.

Hollywood is advertising. It is a product. Both Liberals and Conservatives have become products as well.
If you say you are Liberal-you buy the ideals liberals sell- same for conservatives.

None of us are either-or,we are a mixture of the two.
We can't survive if we try to save everyone(liberal) We can't survive if we take the "boot-straps" approach to everyone(conservative)either.

Corporate Media lies, it divides and destroys. The real culprits are the neo-liberals,and the neo-conservatives- they are as fascist as each other, choosing to serve the elites in society-rather than the "average Joe."

The "average Joe" can pick himself up by the boot-straps, just as much as he can accept a helping hand.

We must not let the those who try to divide us distract us from the truth. Our country has been gutted by the financial elites of both parties, and this "Republicrat" government is corrupt through and through.. clear to the bone.

Libertarians and progressives have far more in common than you can imagine.

The rest of them..not so much.

Ick I agree with just about everything you said. The only point of contention is the Fascist remark, as there are few people left alive today who can actually say they remember actual Fascism. But that's another discussion for another time.

I know that Libertarians and Progressives have a lot in common. I was hanging out with some friends of mine this past weekend, and they're hard core liberals. Actually, one of them used to frequent C&L a lot (can't remember his handle).

When they listened to my politics, one of them said "you're a progressive! Why don't you vote Democrat?"

Well the truth is I hate to vote Republican, too. I just think it's the lesser of two evils right now, but even that feeling is waning.

And I think I see what you're getting at. Just as people generally don't put strenuous thought into the products they buy, they don't put much thought into their politics. They go with whichever brand that makes them feel better.

As you will see tomorrow, I realize that you don't always have to be comfortable with your own political beliefs.

Fascism is simply corporation and government becoming one. This is not the fascism of yesterday- this is the neo-fascism of today.

Look around you Jack-take a wide panoramic view of America. Who are the people surrounding our president? Who are his closest advisors?

Wall Street elites. Banking executives, Corporate cronies all. His cabinet it full of revolving door elites that go from the private sector to the public sector and back again. All the same people from the Bush administration who control our policies.

Watch the documentary called "Lifting The Veil" and you will understand.

First, let me say, I'm "the enemy" a liberal, if that's the tag you want to use. Second, let me say that I find your blog interesting, and have discovered that we have some ideas in common, i.e., we don't have a right to make an abortion decision for a woman, although like you, I would not personally advocate to a woman that she should get an abortion. There are alternatives.

Third point...Your premise "liberal Hollywood" is completely false. Here's a list of conservative Holloywood types to keep you company. Just another conservative blowing smoke, whining about the big liberal machine and mainstream media. I'm surprised they left Ronald Reagan off the list.

Gerard,
Your comment got kicked into the spam filter, probably because of the long list of names you posted. That's the only "censoring" I have here, and I didn't see it in time to mark it as not spam.

I have comment moderation turned off, as I believe everyone is allowed to voice every opinion on here, even if it is acerbic or whatever. I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding.

You make a good point. I don't believe that literally everyone in Hollywood is Liberal, but when you have executives telling someone that they do in fact have a liberal agenda, what other way can we construe that?

And Gerard, I don't view liberals as enemies. I don't try to demonize people with different opinions, and I don't believe either side is trying to destroy America. I've called out a lot of hypocrisy in the Republican Party on this blog as well.

We probably can learn from each other, and I will visit your blog soon =)

Thanks Jack, sorry for the unfair indictment. I'll temper my remarks to reflect the glich.

It's okay, I understand. I see that you edited what you said about me, and I greatly appreciate that.

Decency, decorum, and integrity are not qualities that are often found on the internet, so its always refreshing when I do find it in others =)
