Fuck you, Congress. Fuck you very much.

No, I'm not suggesting revolution and dismantling our government.  It's painfully obvious that the
current asshats in congress don't really give two shits about the American people.  The Republicans are willing to furlough their constituents all to stop Obamacare, even knowing that the Democrats will never back down from it.

So what am I advocating?  Let's furlough our current members of congress.  How do we do that?  The old fashioned way, of course: don't vote for them.

Every asshole Republican that voted in favor of putting the Obamacare defund rider onto the budget bill should be voted out in 2014.  Every Democrat that refused to postpone the implementation of Obamacare should be voted out in 2014.

"But Jack, it wasn't the Democrats' fault!  It was the Republicans!"  No, hypothetical-nay-sayer, they are all to blame.  There are too few people in congress anymore that are willing to compromise, and I, for one, am sick and tired of the brinkmanship.

If the Republicans actually gave a shit about the American people, they never would have put the Obamacare rider on the funding bill.  Newsflash: they don't give a shit, because they're not directly affected by the furloughs.  If the Democrats truly gave a shit about the American people, they would have signed the bill and fought the Obamacare battle another day.

But neither party is interested in anything that closely resembles responsible governance.  Every single American citizen who votes for an establishment party member in 2014 only has themselves to blame.

If you want real change, it's time to start voting third party or independent.  I know it might be scary, but mark my words: as long as Congress is comprised of nearly all Democrats and Republicans, nothing will change.  Just as I predicted in 2008, Obama has not and will not effect any change in DC.  All he has managed to do is get a healthcare bill passed that will make my premiums go up.  That's not rhetoric, that's just fact.

So congratulations Democrats: you still suck.  Congratulations Republicans: you're still a bunch of assholes.

Vote third party in 2014 or you're just asking for more bullshit.

Tell us how you really feel!

This is what happens when government tries to do too much and gets too far into our lives.

Obamacare was just the latest of a whole host of colossal overreaches.

Affordable healthcare is easy: Set up some simple health and insurance rules and let the marketplace take over, like we do for food, clothing, and most other things we consume daily in our lives.

Establish catastrophic insurance so no one loses their home, and pay the medical bills for those who still truly cannot afford it.

Much simpler, and much cheaper, than this Soviet-Style disaster.

I like your suggestion, Jack, but unfortunately, politicians, like AIDS, herpies and hemmorhoids, will always afflict mankind.

Joe Markowitz said...

Silverfiddle, can you cite a working model of your suggestion, anywhere?

Anonymous said...

Joe: It's called the free market. Look it up.

Most Latin American counties operate like this. Granted, they do not have the medical technology we enjoy, but medical costs are on average less that 5% of ours for comparable procedures.

Also, happiness indices and life expectancies are very similar.

Now, would I rather be sick here than in Honduras? Sure, but you asked for examples of working models.

If you want another real world example of 'bending the cost curve down' with medical care, look no further than here in the US for elective procedures like cosmetic surgery, dental implants and lasik.

About as naive an analysis as we are going to read.

The House is being controlled by a group of 30 baggers largely from safe Gerrymandered districts and you want to trot out the old high school civics.

Won't work. They got the court that would strike down the voting rights act. Hand in hand with Citizens United and we are screwed.

He is a sour old, crab of a man who loves crapping in the punchbowl.

He has no solutions, only dyspeptic criticisms.

He is an expert at pitting the chimerical perfect against the human-achievable good... When attacking idea or project to the right of Karl Marx. But he can find no problems to his left.

He is a tired, predictable, work out old man with discredited, worn out ideas, so he gets his cheap jollies puking out his venom on anyone who would criticize his beloved, dogmatic progressive statism.

This is absurd. The President can't back down on this. Congress can not be allowed to stop the entire federal budget every time it want's to a hamper a law. This is just ridiculous.

This is not a game of my d is bigger than yours. At lest it should not be.

Jersey I ask you How has this shutdown affected you?
Do you sit and watch your savings deplete wondering what corner you should stand on when it hits the red line? Do you look at your kids every morning and wonder how many lunches you can afford to give them. Do you skip meals to let the little bit of money you have last a little longer?

If you don't have to do that and you are allowed to go to work everyday making the same amount of money you always do then your opinion matters not my friend.

Now i know i can go out and get a part time job to balance my budget. so my money woes are in part my fault, but let me ask you this and ask every single american one question.

When those that control your paycheck don't do there job stand up and read a regulation saying they still get paid but you wont how would that make you feel?

Just as jack stated EVERYONE involved is at fault. EVERYONE that sits in a Congressional seat should be fired and their pay and net worth should be liquidated into the country they assisted in destroying.
America needs to wake up. If she sleeps through this whole ordeal and misses the systematic destruction of her values, because elected officials are voting with ideologies in mind and not the people that gave them a job, we are all doomed.

It's okay, I'm not offended. I just don't want opinions squashed here. If everyone is to be free to express themselves and how they truly feel, then they should have a safe place to do so.

THat's not to say I've never insulted anyone on this blog, but I try my best to avoid ad hominem as much as I can.

Besides, most people who have names and such are using pen names anyway. So unless you use your actual name, it's all anonymous.

??? Jackie I was going to comment on the article, but this new twist is just too much to resist. BTW I have not commented yet.

I agree with you to a certain point, that opinions formed by people with wide gaps in their knowledge base is pretty much worthless... however....

The transmission of ideas and their content is far more important than the messenger, or the form the messenger takes.

Jack Camwell is not his real name, and you came into the scene singing his praises... now you are basically calling him quasi-ignorant because he is quasi-anonymous.

As for your other point about cowardice and safe havens... that is simply cognitive dissonance.

In other words, you are holding two opposing beliefs simultaneously... If there are no safe havens, there is no anonymity and therefore there are no cowards, at least from you since you can find out who someone is in a heartbeat.

I have been in IT for nearly 15 years and my youth was spent bending the CCFA... that's some trick you have. IP's can be spoofed, spindoctored, and nullified, only the FBI (legally) or the NSA (illegally) has the power to actually put a name to an IP... and still I could be typing this out at a McDonalds or something, so all you are going to get is Ronald D Clown.

BTW, I have been posting on this blog almost since it's inception as AHB, so I am pretty much exactly like Jackie, only.. no blog.

Elizabeth Gonzalez, you must be a special type of lunatic.

You have no respect for people who communicate anonymously or by pseudonym? Well, I have no respect for people who are brash, repeat themselves constantly and use foul language with strangers in a public forum.

How is posting without a "real name" ignorant? Do you even know what that word means? People who don't conform to your set of ideals aren't necessarily ignorant. To believe that is in fact ignorant.

As you yourself pointed out, this is NOT your blog, so now that you have more than adequately expressed your opinion about anonymity, why don't you kindly allow everyone else to express theirs.

Sincerely and anonymously,

TSM

Jackie, how do you consistently attract people who are beyond the reach of reason and rationality?

I do have an "alias"... it's AHB... as I said. I have some articles floating around the main blog, that is if you can stomach the decent into madness that is anonymous conclusions.

There is a distinction between the content of a blog article and the discussions afterward. It seems to me that Jack tries to keep his comments pretty respectful. He avoids harsh language and especially avoids insults directed toward individuals on this blog.

For the record, your use of the word dichotomy makes no sense in this context. I think you mean to say "double standard," which as I explained, is not the case. Does that make me weak? In what way exactly? You seem to like to call people weak when you don't like something about them. Perhaps this is some sort of psychological projection.

Jack at least uses an alias? In case you couldn't tell, I also have an alias. Jack's opinion matters because he uses an alias, but despite the fact I have one as well, my opinion means nothing to you. Hmmm. Now THAT seems like a "dichotomy" as you might incorrectly call it.

Believe me Elizabeth, the only person here who is currently full of themselves is you. You have to be full of yourself to go into somebody else's blog and start throwing out insults because you don't like the fact that they choose to post as Anonymous. So what if you apologized? After making your pretentious apology you IMMEDIATELY turned around and acted like an idiot again. I disagree with your views, but I would not call you an idiot simply for expressing them. I call you an idiot because of the way you have chosen to express them. You are obnoxiously rude, inconsiderate of everyone but yourself. You are indeed full of yourself.

I am supremely confused now.

Look, I am not trying to discourage you from speaking your mind, far from it.

By all means, stick around... by doing so however, realize you have to be prepared to defend your opinions with ideas.

That was a pretty outlandish proclamation you made.

Elizabeth, I know Anonymous Howard Beale (AHB) in real life. He is about as humble as they come. Please don't make assumptions about the character of people you've never met. Jersey does that often, and it is far from becoming.

Everyone that comes here is free to express their opinions, and they should be able to do so without having to worry about being flamed.

I suppose that means you're free to make whatever ad hominem attacks you like, but don't be surprised when it doesn't go over well.

Just as well, I never ban anyone from here, and I never tell anyone to not come back. I just want this to be a place of rational discussion.

I know there are some fairly nasty remarks that are thrown around here, but it's only a testament to a woeful lack of civility on the part of the attackers. Their own words speak louder to their character than any reproach I could ever offer.

Jack Camwell said...

Elizabeth, you called them cowards. They're not assaulting your opinions and ideas. You can't make a character judgment about someone and then expect them to just take it.

The anons here are simply people who don't want to bother making an account. They don't frequent other blogs, and they generally come here to read my articles because they are my friends IRL. Trust me, they are far from cowards.

One of the anons who posted serves in the National Guard, and he's deployed to Afghanistan. He's no coward.

Please stick around, but I would ask that when engaging in the discussion, stick to the ideas, not the people. You're going to do whatever you're going to do, and that's fine, but just remember that it's unwise to make character judgments about people you've never met.

You can express your opinions. Yes, I'm foul-mouthed, but if you note from some of my past interactions with people, I very rarely ever turn my foul mouth towards the people themselves. The only time I do is when they come off half-cocked.

I can tell you this much: if you call someone a coward, then expect that person to fire back at you. This is why I try to steer the discussion away from ad hominem, because then it just gets out of control.

By all means, add to the discussion, but don't start calling people names and such. It's unproductive.

The Smoking Man said...

Comment after comment of you playing the victim... Oh, I was only trying to express myself and was attacked simply for thinking differently. I guess I have no choice but to keep my opinions to myself...

Spare me the theatrics. As I said, you are not being attacked for daring to think differently. You are getting negative feedback as a direct result of the insults and rude behavior you have displayed.

Deleting your own comments now? Your comments, other peoples comments, you really seem to love censorship. Yes. Wouldn't want anyone to see how ridiculous you were being. Quick, destroy the evidence. Is that "taking responsibility?" To me, that seems, what is the word I'm looking for... oh, weak.

That's right. You are the victim. You'd love to be a frequent commenter here, but we wont let you because we are meanies with a grudge who don't accept apologies. Nothing you did or said matters because you took the time to type "I'm sorry." Ignore the fact that apologizing didn't in any way change your behavior, a pretty good indicator of the sincerity of said apology.

Well, I'm sorry too. I'm sorry you can't stick around because you are completely unreasonable.

TSM

The Smoking Man said...

You did not delete your comments as a service to Jack, you deleted your comments to AVOID taking responsibility. There is nothing respectful to Jack, or anyone else here, about deleting your comments. That is a total BS move.

"I will not disrespect Jack here or anyone else here, even you."

Seriously? What do you call all those insults you made earlier? You know, the ones that magically vanished.

Reality check. Let me make this clear for the last time. Your opinions didn't offend people. You being a total ASS is what offended people.
